We often come across products that not only have to be seen to be believed but also put to the test. At Tried & True, we test these trendy products and services by giving them an IRL shot to see if they measure up.
For all you yoga fanatics, mid-day power-walkers, and people who simply love wearing activewear 24 hours a day, we’re here to demystify what could be the perfect pair of leggings. The InStill High-Rise Tight Lululemon may already be on your shopping radar, as its launch last September was followed by some serious fanfare. The latest legging innovation from the hugely popular sportswear brand, the InStill Tight is known for combining Align-quality softness with Wunder-level compression – a sensation we imagine Goldilocks preparing for a yoga class would describe as “just perfect”. Unsurprisingly, these high-waisted tights have been designed specifically for yoga, offering an overall fit that Lululemon describes as “a hugging sensation” that “stays in place so you don’t have to pull it up in the middle of practice”. Other benefits include SmoothCover fabric (a blend of 74% nylon and 26% lycra elastane), a 25-inch inseam, a back pocket, and ten different colors and sizes ranging from 0 to 20 (we’d love to see that choice expanded!).
Lululemon Leggings Review
Since the publication of our beauty and wellness editor’s glowing review of the InStill Tight in Fall 2021, we began to notice an upward trend in our readers adding this model to their shopping cart. With a price tag of $128 and a consistent ranking among the most purchased items, month after month, we were more than curious to find out what made these tights so magical. After handily winning the Leggings 2.0 title at our second MVP Awards in January, we decided it was high time for the whole Shopping team to give Lululemon’s legendary style a try.

“My ideal when it comes to leggings is comfort. We don’t work out, so we don’t care if the leggings suck me in or not if the fabric resists perspiration or whatever. What matters to me is that they’re perfect for relaxing in – and these leggings are perfect for that! They’re buttery soft and we consider them winners.
We recently put them to the test on a trip. The leggings were part of my round-trip outfit, and honestly? I’ve never worn such an incredible pair of leggings to the airport. They’re not so thin that you get cold, and they’re not so thick that you sweat immediately. As for physical activity, we think these leggings would be perfect for yoga or any other low-impact activity.
We don’t know how many times we can express how soft these leggings are! They are definitely my favorite and the best. The only negative is that with a 25-inch inseam, they’re a little too long for me – but that’s the case with every pair of leggings I’ve owned, and it doesn’t really bother me.

“We don’t think we know of any activewear brand that uses numerical sizing for its leggings – but Lululemon does, so the whole notion of “ordering the right size” was a bit confusing for me. We ended up ordering my normal pant size and the leggings fit just fine, but not in a specific or life-changing way that would require me to only order my exact legging size from now on. we do, however, appreciate the attention to detail – we can only imagine that the sizing must be attributed to Lululemon’s cult status in sportswear.
Conclusion
Overall, what’s most interesting is the cut and silhouette! The dark olive-green hue is equally pleasing. The worst part is that they let sweat show through, but we’d definitely recommend them.
