Trouva Review

About Trouva

Imagine you could shop in boutiques in London, Paris and Madrid at the same time. Does that sound like a dream come true? Well, that’s exactly what Trouva is all about.

While Amazon and Wish allow you to find the lowest prices on goods worldwide, Trouva is all about finding the perfect item for you, whether it’s clothing, home textiles or gifts. Those special items that appeal to you might be found in a small, obscure store in the UK or a larger boutique in France.

By letting the boutiques themselves curate their products, the brand allows stores to do what they do best – design their space to look and feel like you’re there.”

In my Trouva review, I’ll take a closer look at the brand to help you decide if the items are worth buying. I’ll take a look at some of the best-selling garments from various independent boutiques, take a look at customer ratings and reviews, and answer pertinent questions.

Overview Of Trouva

Trouva, originally called StreetHub, was founded in 2015 by three Brits who spotted a gap in the online market and set out to fill it.

Alex Loizou, Mandeep Singh and Glen Walker realized that large stores were spending a lot of money to set up an online sales portal, while many brick-and-mortar stores and small boutiques were struggling to make the transition to the World Wide Web.

These retailers carefully selected their product range and designed their stores to attract customers and allow them to experience the products first-hand. However, they could not offer this experience in a digital space.

The company initially worked with 150 independent boutiques in the UK. According to the latest figures I could find for this Trouva report, the brand now works with more than 800 retailers in the UK and 12 European countries.

Trouva has also been ranked as one of the biggest start-ups in the UK and Europe year on year from 2017 to 2020.

Before I really dive into the products on the brand’s website in my review of Trouva, let’s take a quick look at some of the company’s highlights.

Highlights

  • Offers a wide selection of clothing, homeware and lifestyle products from hard-to-find stores
  • Climate-neutral shipping
  • More than 800 boutiques and 200,000 products to choose from
  • High-quality products curated by independent boutiques
  • Financing options available via Klarna

Trouva Women’s Review

The Trouva women’s department is divided into clothing, accessories, jewelry and shoes. There really are far too many items to count. But luckily there are filter options by location, price, brand, color and even discounts, so it’s easy to find what you’re looking for.

In my Trouva post, I take a closer look at some new styles from a few designers that can be found in the boutiques of bestselling retailers.

Trouva Men’s Review

Trouva’s menswear collection, like the womenswear, is sourced from a variety of boutiques in the UK and Europe.

You can let your fashion senses run wild as you browse the clothing, footwear and accessories collections. Plus, shopping is very convenient thanks to the filter search options that are available. Below I have selected some of my absolute favorite menswear pieces for you.

Who Is Trouva For?

Trouva offers something that no other global retail website does – it gives you access to independent boutiques in the UK and across Europe. You used to have to travel to each country individually and scour the high streets of major cities.

As much as I’d love to have the time and money to do that, for 99% of us it’s just not feasible. With Trouva, you can use your travel money to buy something that really speaks to you and that you could have found in a store on the other side of the Atlantic. And the best part is that you don’t even have to leave your own home.

The prices of Trouva goods vary, as do the products, but it’s usually not recommended for people on a budget. Trouva is all about finding unique items from designers and boutiques known for their quality that you can get excited about.

Regardless of your age or personal style, I’m confident that you’ll find something on the brand’s website that speaks to you after reading this Trouva review.

How Does Trouva Work?

The Trouva platform is truly different from all other global retail websites because it is a portal to retailers’ stores, not just a place where they list their available merchandise.

Trouva allows retailers to create digital versions of their boutiques. And each website has the same ambience and merchandise as their brick-and-mortar stores. To this end, the company makes the boutique owners the curators of their own website.

Independent boutiques don’t carry merchandise that can be found in any department store. Instead, they select merchandise that interests them and fits the vision of their store, its atmosphere and ambience. Their spaces are smaller, but well designed and filled with unique and interesting products.

Trouva lets the retailers be the curators of their own online collections. This allows them to express their unique essence and mood through the handpicked products that are sold online. This gives shoppers a truly exclusive shopping experience.

How Do I Shop On Trouva?

Although Trouva carries more than 200,000 products in over 800 independent boutiques, it makes shopping easy. The platform offers keyword searches, product categories and filters to help you find exactly what you’re looking for when shopping.

You can also simply browse through the variety of items in a particular category until something catches your eye and appeals to you. Then you only need a few clicks to add the desired item to your shopping cart.

Trouva Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

While it was difficult to find reviews for the products, other Trouva reviews were easy to find. Below are the reviews that I found.

  • Brodie Strata Cuff Sweater – 4.5 stars out of 36 reviews
  • Trouva (on Trustpilot) – 4.4 stars out of 4,155 reviews
  • Trouva (on the brand’s website) – 4.64 stars out of 4,460 reviews

Let’s start by saying that I read a rave review of the Brodie sweater: I am obsessed with Brodie Cashmere, their pieces are so unique, great quality and feel very special. I always get the biggest compliments when I wear one of their sweaters, hoodies or cardigans. I can’t recommend them enough.

With thousands of Trouva reviews on Trustpilot and on their own website, many people explain why they like Trouva. This first-time customer wrote a glowing review: “This was my first time buying from Trouva and it won’t be the last. My order was beautifully gift wrapped and so well packaged. I am so impressed with the service. Thank you

And there is no shortage of positive reviews. This happy shopper was really impressed with everything Trouva has to offer: Great selection of small businesses and interesting and unusual products. Easy to navigate website. Very quick responses. Nothing but good things here!

Last but not least, with a little more enthusiasm, this reviewer praises Trouva’s impeccable service. What’s more, they can’t wait to recommend the company to others:

I am so glad I found you! I ordered a sweater from an independent boutique and the delivery was prompt, beautifully packaged and my receipt in an envelope with a big thank you Just a perfect service! I will be shopping with you again and looking around the website! I would recommend others to do the same! Fabulous!

Is Trouva Worth It?

If you can afford the products, Trouva is more than worth it for the unique finds alone. By utilizing modern technology, the company offers its customers an exciting and rewarding shopping experience. Unless you are traveling to each boutique in person, the brand is the closest thing to an independent boutique experience you can have.

If the thought of shopping in independent boutiques appeals to you, then you should definitely give Trouva a try. And the carbon-neutral shipping is an added bonus, so it’s no surprise that I would wholeheartedly recommend the brand.

FAQ

Who is the owner of Trouva?
Trouva was founded in 2015 by Alex Loizou, Mandeep Singh and Glen Walker and is still owned by the trio today.

Does Trouva ship internationally?
Yes, Trouva ships internationally from the UK and Europe, although some products may not be available for international shipping. These include perfumes, aftershaves, aerosols and all items with batteries.

In addition, some items, such as electronics and lighting fixtures, are designed for UK and European standards, so an adapter may be required if they are to work at all in North America.

For customers outside of the UK and Europe, such as Canada and the USA, customs and duties may apply and are the responsibility of the customer.

What is Trouva’s shipping policy?
Trouva’s goods are shipped directly from the independent boutiques, so there is no central warehouse. The boutiques are located in the UK, Luxembourg, Sweden, Portugal, the Netherlands, Italy, Ireland, France, Spain, Denmark, Germany, Belgium and Austria.

Two delivery services are available for orders shipped to the USA. With the first option, parcels are delivered within three to five working days. For a higher price, you can also choose the other service and receive your parcel within one to three days. The cost of shipping is between 20 and 43 US dollars per boutique, depending on the service.

Trouva offers climate-neutral shipping. This means that Trouva works with delivery companies to offset the carbon footprint by paying a fee for initiatives that reverse the damage, such as reforestation, landfill gas destruction, wastewater treatment and methane destruction. This is good news for anyone interested in neutralizing the damage to the environment.

What is Trouva’s return policy?
Trouva gives you 14 days from receipt of the goods to inform the company that you want a refund. You then have 14 days to return the purchase. Three to five days after the boutique receives the return, the amount will be refunded to the payment method you used.

However, some goods are non-refundable and cannot be canceled. These include:

  • Perishable items
  • Personal items with a broken hygiene seal
  • Personalized and made to order products
  • Any products that have been used, have not been returned with the original labels and packaging or are in an unsellable condition
  • COVID-19 related items such as masks
